Probability Central
Probability Central is a website designed to teach the basics of probability to people who are interested in learning more about probability.

Makers of Probability Central
Probability Central was created by three students from Winston Churchill High School (Potomac, MD): Poya Golriz, Payam Golriz, and Les Okrasa. These students are the team members of team 11506 in the 1997 ThinkQuest website creation competition.

The Learning Section
The Learning section is where all the information about probability can be found. It is broken into six different sections in order to simplify browsing it. There are five lesson sections and one exercise section. The Lesson sections include: 1.Introduction to probability, 2.Probability Theory, 3.Probability Model, 4.Probability Properties, 5.Rules of Probability. You can reach the learning section through our main page or the quick menu. You can be directed to the Learning Section by clicking here.

The Gaming Section
The Gaming section lets you play the game of probability poker. The game is played just like the regular poker game except that depending on the cards you have, certain probability facts about poker are given while you play. The purpose of this section is to provide a fun method of demonstrating the use of probability in real life situations (a poker game). You can go to this section by clicking on the Gaming Section from the main page, or by clicking on "Gaming Section" from our quick menu. Rules and guidelines on playing probability poker can be found in the gaming section. You can be directed to the Gaming Section by clicking here.

Website Feedback
The Website Feedback section is designed to help us understand your needs better. In this sections you will be asked a few questions about our website. These questions will help us determine what parts of our website are working fine and what parts need more improvement. After you submit the questions you will see the results of this feedback survey in percentage format. Next to each option there is a percentage which shows what percent of people taking the survey chose that particular option. The Probability Central staff appreciate your honesty when completing the feedback form. The Website Feedback Section can be reached through the main page or the quick menu. You can be directed to the Website Feedback Section by clicking here.

The Graffiti Wall
In this section, we provide a graffiti wall which holds 10 lines at a time; People can add their own lines to the wall. The purpose of the wall is to provide a method for people all over the world who are interested in learning about probability to converse with each other and post their ideas or problems for other people to see. You can access the graffiti wall by clicking on the Graffiti Wall in the main menu as well as the quick menu. You can be directed to the Graffiti Wall by clicking here.

Downloading The Learning Section
Probability Central has provided a stand-alone windows based application version of the whole learning section. This program is free to download and pass to others. You can be directed to the Download Page by clicking here. Installation instructions are provided in the download page.

Probability Calculator
Probability Central staff have written a Java applet called Probability Calculator. The function of this applet is to find the probability of two different events both happening or the probability of either one happening. The user enters the probability of each event happening and the applet will display the results depending on the option the user selects. Please note that using this applet requires a Java enabled browser. Probability Central recommends using Netscape or Internet Explorer 3.x or higher. You can be directed to the Probability Calculator by clicking here.

PowerPoint Animation
In the Power Point Animation Section there is a PowerPoint animation which basically summarizes what Probability Central is about and it has a brief description of each section. To view this animation your browser needs to have the PowerPoint Animation plug-in. Instructions on getting this plug-in can be found in the PowerPoint Animation Section. You can be directed to the PowerPoint Animation Section by clicking here.

Other Links
Probability Central has provided links to other web pages related to probability for people who do not find what they are looking for in this site or people who want more information about probability. You can access the links section using the menu in the main page or the quick menu. You can be directed to the Links Section by clicking here.
