Subject: Kennedy & Space Exploration
In 1957 the United States was shocked when Sputnik was launched by the Soviets. In 1961 it was shocked again as Gagarin went to space. President Kennedy promised to reach the moon by the end of the decade. Millions of dollars were spent to achieve this goal, while the Russians were developing technologies for MIR. Now with the International Space Station, the trips to the moon seem useless and in my mind it appears that the Russians won again. Do you agree or disagree?
