Ya know though, that whole Star Wars Laser defense system ... as useless as it sounded then, it's interesting that the whole idea is being brought back up again. A few issues ago in IEEE they mentioned that it's being looked into again.
Personally I don't really find the value in putting weapons up in space. There's enough crap floating around up there, why put weapons (for offense OR defense) up there?
