The United States stayed away from the revolutions sweeping through Europe. There is a rebellion which occurred in Calgary. The McKenzy rebellion was an unsuccessful attempt by the French, led by Napoleon III, to overthrow the British rule in Western Canada.

In 1840, there was a rebellion aboard a merchant ship on the way from Africa to the United States. The blacks took over the Spanish ship and sailed it to New York, where they expected to become United States Citizens. Once the ship comes into New York, though, its is seized, and it's only with the permission of the Spanish Government and after a trial in the Supreme Court that the people are returned to Africa unharmed.
