Zachary Taylor

Following the massive expansion experienced under the Presidency of James Knox Polk, Taylor encouraged a policy of neutrality. For the two years of his presidency, Taylor steered the nation clear of foreign problems.

Foreign Events of Zachary Taylor

    James Knox Polk greatly expanded the territories of the United States. After the war with Mexico, where he was a general, Taylor followed a policy of neutrality. From 1849 to 1850 the United States stayed out of wars and international conflicts.
