Who was Richard Nixon ?

    Richard Milhous Nixon was born in California. He graduated from Whittier College in 1934, and then Duke University Law School in 1937 after which he started his law practice. During World War II, he was a lieutenant commander in the Navy. After serving, he was elected to the House of Representatives, and later joined the Senate. Nixon became Vice President under Eisenhower.

    President Nixon's administration worked towards stability both at home and abroad. In personal diplomatic visits with the Soviet Union and Communist China, he managed to improve relations between the United States and those countries. When a cease-fire agreement was signed in January of 1973, many Americans rejoiced at the end of the Vietnam conflict.
