Andrew Jackson

Birth-Death: (1767 - 1845 ) Term: (1829-1837 )

Andrew Jackson was elected President by the people, and firmly believed in a government for the people. His attitude towards government became known as Jacksonian Democracy. Such examples of this concept were the elimination of the electoral college, and rotation of government offices. However, as President, he used his Executive power freely and sometimes against the will of the other branches of government.
