Benjamin Harrison

Birth-Death: (1833 - 1901 ) Term: (1889-1893 )

Benjamin Harrison had been a minority president (he received less than half of the popular vote), however he had passed many reforms that would influence the nation for years to come. The Sherman Anti-Trust bill was the first step in dissolving the huge trusts and monopolies, and although it proved ineffective, it was the first bill to attack these organizations. The Sherman Silver Act commanded the government to buy more silver monthly, which led to the Panic of 1893.
