Foreign Events of Warren HardingAfter the horror the world had experienced during first world war, the American continent was shifting towards conservatism. The League of Nations was rejected by the people because of the possibility of a new war, in another distant land, and the people were looking for other ways to prevent war. The Washington Conference took place in the middle of Hardingšs term and lasted from 1921 to 1922. Its purpose was to reduce tensions growing in the Far East and the Naval armaments of the nations.
