Millard Fillmore

The Presidency of Millard Fillmore is epitomized by the Compromise of 1850. It was one of the first events that began to split the nation apart at its seams. The publishing of Uncle Tom's Cabin later in Fillmore's presidency contributed to the effect and alienated the North against the South. The war was beginning.
