The end of the Cold War and the break-up of the Soviet Union were but two of the major changes around the world. The Berlin Wall came down, reuniting two sides of the same nation for the first time in fourty years. In the United States, things were not proceeding as well, however. The economy was worsening, violent crime increasing, and the deficit increasing.
