John Quincy Adams

Birth-Death: (1767 - 1848 ) Term: (1825-1829 )

John Quincy Adams served as President during a time generally considered peaceful. His administration dealt less with foreign affairs than with concerns at home. He began federal involvement in the building of a network of highways and canals, and encouraged the development of arts and sciences. The only black mark on his administration was brought against him by Andrew Jackson, who after losing the election, accused Adams of using the Spoils System to win.
