Jerrod Schwartz
![]() |
Jerrod, currently 17, has been playing soccer since
he was 5. He progressed through the age divisions playing
both house and select soccer. A solid
defender and a dangerous striker, Jerrod is on
the Kelowna U17 Select Team and a house team in the
Mission. Jerrod's favourite soccer moves are the fake
kick, the Waa, and the "Triangle and behind". The Kelowna U17 Select Team recently won their own COYSA tournament along with the Kamloops tournament. In the British Columbia Premier Cup Provincials, his team finished a strong 3rd place with 2 ties and one loss (to the Lower Island select team, who were later crowned Provincial Champions). He was the lone Kelowna player to score against the Lower Island select team, only to have the goal denied due to a miss-called offside. He began refereeing soccer when he was 12. Jerrod has officiated in the British Columbia Provincial A Cup, the COYSA Summer Classic, the local men's league divisions, and various other recreational youth soccer games. Jerrod also enjoys coaching sports. Last year he was an assistant coach for the U14 girls Kelowna Select Team, and this year he coached the OKM grade 8 boys volleyball team. |
Daraius Gandevia

Daraius Gandevia is an 18 years old student currently
attending Okanagan Mission Secondary School. He primarily
enjoys the sport of soccer from the sidelines. In his
spare time he enjoys programming, talking with friends on
IRC, and playing video games. Daraius enjoys playing
baseball, basketball, and downhill skiing. In the future
he hopes to become a computer programmer or work in the
field of computer animation/design. Daraius is currently
working towards an Associate of Science degree. Daraius has enjoyed participating in the 1997 ThinkQuest Contest. It has given him the opportunity to explore the possibilities of the Internet and its educational value. He has been challenged by the demands that are associated with such a complex and detailed web site. Daraius hopes to carry these new found skills on into future applications. |

Derek Edstrom
| Wa'sup? Derek Edstrom's the name and
soccer is the game. I am a sixteen year old student at
Okanagan Mission Secondary School in Kelowna, BC, Canada.
I'm an active athlete with soccer being the primary focus
during the spring to fall months. I am currently playing
in 3 different leagues of soccer: U19 Boys Select team,
Men's League, and a U17 house team. The pinnacle of the teams
that I play for is the 'U19 Nortel/Canadian Tire Kelowna
Stallions'. The Select season came to an end on July 4,
5, 6 when we traveled to Prince George, BC (10 hours from
Kelowna) to play in the provincials, in which we ended up
placing third. Men's League soccer will continue all
through the summer and fall. The biggest advantage of
playing at a Men's League level, is that you learn how to
beat/play/deal with opponents who are high tempered and
would love to ruffle/hit/take out a 16 year old kid. I
also play at the house league level. House is great
because you get to meet with all your friends and play a
game that you all love... soccer. Computers have always sparked an interest with me. I can still easily remember setting up BBS's with one of my teammates, Jerrod, back in grade 7. Ever since then my desire to communicate with other computer users has greatly increased. I think that is one of the primary reasons why I was so excited to work on this page. I was enthralled that we would be able to produce a soccer page for all ages that would be easy to use and be very informative. And after a roller coaster of events I think we have done it. I've been playing soccer since I was 4 years of age, and have helped coach multiple house teams throughout the years. I 've also coached a junior level volleyball team and have been coaching waterskiiers for 3 years. I hope to bring all my positive experiences and teachings of coaching (as well as being coached) to this page for all of the surfers and soccer players on the net. |
