Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in some parts of India as a festival to honour the sea god Varuna. However, at most places, it celebrates the love of a brother for his sister. Brothers and sisters exchange gifts, the sister tying a thread known as a rakhi on her brother's wrist. Brahmins, after a day of fasting, change the sacred thread they wear.
