To the Hindus, Baisakhi is the solar new year, celebrated with joyous music and dancing. To the Sikhs, this festival is the anniversary of the foundation of the Khalsa (the Sikh brotherhood) by the tenth Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh. Processions and feasting follow readings of the holy scripture of the Sikhs, Guru Granth Sahib.
