Agricultural Marketing

Marketing of farm products in India operates by and large under the normal forces of demand and supply. Private trade is the driving force of the country's market mechanism. Government intervention is limited mainly to protecting the interests of both producers and consumers through farm support policies and promotion of organised marketing of agricultural commodities. To achieve this, most states have enacted necessary legislation for regulation of agricultural produce markets.
