..To take
a picture we must assume that holding the camera and
snapping the shutter are understood. When you take a
quality photograph, it is a bit more complicated, but
this is a good place to begin.
Holding
the Camera properly - Holding
your camera is a bit more complicated than just
thoughtlessly supporting it in any position that
feels comfortable. We don't want to force you to hold
it one way and thats that. But it is important to
remember that your fingers should be able to control
all the major functions of the camera, at the same
time.
A
good habit is to place one hand under the camera,
while gripping it around the lens. This will give you
control of the f-stops and focus. The other hand
should be supporting the camera from the side, while
your index finger is near the shutter release button.
The
reason for following such procedures is to maximize
control and stability of the camera.
Steady
the Camera - A very important
method for preventing blurred images, especially when
shooting with a slow shutter speed is holding your
camera as steady as possible. Unless you are using a
tri-pod, this will be something you are thankful for,
and the stiller you are the less film you will waste.
Snapping
the Shutter - Did we mention
that when you press your shutter button down, you are
actually not going to press, but squeeze. By
squeezing you are keeping the camera steady. If you
"press" you may tip the camera and tilt
your desired image. A simple precaution that can help
save you much film.
