..This
section is not going to tell you step by step what to
do to process your film for every lab is different.
Therefore, we are going to briefly describe the
different scenarios and preperation that should occur
before developing your film.
Start
by mixing your chemicals. You have a developer, a
stop bath, and a fixer. These mandatory solutions
should be mixed according to the instructions
included with the product. It is also advisable to
keep your storage containers labeled with date and
mixture ratio. This will allow for accurate
replenishments of fresh chemicals.
Since
you are going to be doing everything in the dark,
have all your equipment in order and ready to be
found and used without being able to see it. This
period of darkness should only include the time it
takes to roll your film and seal it with the lid.
After that, it should be safe to have the lights on.
Often
times the photographer's darkroom will have a dry and
a wet side. The dry side is "chem-free".
This meaning that no stray chemicals are just spilled
or laying around waiting for an accident. If any
chemicals get on your film before you begin timing,
you will have damaged sections of your film.
Therefore make sure the area you will be rolling is
dry and clean. Also make sure the reel and tank are
dry before proceeding.
