..You may
be wondering how we know which negative we want to
spend a piece of paper on, without seeing a positive
of it first. The answer is simple, we make a contact
sheet. A contact sheet is a kind of preview of all
the frames on a roll or at least most of them.
..Making
a contact sheet is no different than making a print
of a negative. Instead of shining light through the
negative, as it's name infers, the negatives are in
contact with the photo paper. To make a contact sheet
it is important to follow the instructions below.
| Step
1 - Prepare the
chemicals to be used by mixing them according
to the manufacturer's instructions. If you
use warm water to mix your developer, let it
cool to about 70 F. before using it. |

|
| Step
2 - Pour the
chemicals into the appropriate trays that
have been assembled close to each other in
the order you will use them (developer,
stop-bath, fixer, and wash). |

|
| Step
3 - Check the
temperature of the developer. Also check and
adjust the temperature of the running wash
water. |

|
| Step
4 - Clean the glass
you will use to hold the negatives in place
on the photo paper. |
