Question:

I have taken several pictures, but they always seem to capture the subject in a undesired position, or the subject is appears to not even be paying attention. How can I make the subject appear more invloved with my photograph?

Beginner photographers often struggle capturing the subject to make a strong composition. This is usually because they are not following the principles of composition. Make sure to follow the rule of thirds, use leading lines, and have appropriate lighting. If that gets you a little closer, there is always cropping.

Question:

Whenever I take a picture, my light always seems unbalanced, and this even happens when I properly meter a scene. What could be the problem?

Light meters are our friend. However, they are sometimes not making the best decision for you. This is because it only averages light in a scene. If you subject is in a dark area of a scene, and about 75% of the scene is in bright light. You want your subject to be properly exposed, so you compensate for the brightness by adjusting your f-stop or shutter speed, depending on what is more critical depth-of-field or exposure.
