I teach geography to high school students. I however teach it from a different angle: instead of continental, I group the regions by climates. It worked out SUPER. If you know of any other web pages besides yours that would benefit me in my classroom, PLEASE E-mail them to me. Also, if you have any suggestions for this class, please let me know. Bill Patterson

I was saddened to hear the Supreme courts ruling allowing affected business to sue the government for losses incurred in enforcement of the Endangered Species Act. The costs incurred will be paid by the taxpayer and business can write off costs as expense of doing business. The advantages to the Plaintiffs in these actions is formidable. They could get injunctions to prevent implemenatation of needed activities to save a species and keep the cases before the courts for years while they rape and plunder the land. I'm glad I am old and won't be around to see the results of this loophole provided by our higest court.

This home page is extremely interesting as well as informing. We, as a nation under God, need to be more aware of conservation. This is the first step towards that goal. Thank you. It's nice to know some people still care. I'm 16 and not many people my age seem to care. This home page is a relief and vividly refreshing. Again thanks.

Snazzy page... just wanted to add... Lets not forget that we are STILL hurting the Earth. Not 15 miles from where I sit typing this note lies the largest uprotected ancient redwood forest in the world, HEADWATERS FOREST. Recently a "deal" was struck to "protect" the fragile and majestic area, but it is a SHAM. It only protects a small portion (7500) of the 60,000 acres needed to preserve and protect and restore and still provide jobs to the local community, the watershed; as an example for the rest of the nation, and world, a demonstration of what, together, we can accomplish. (Wow, is that a run on!) Much of the old growth redwoods are not included in this "deal." For an "environmental" president, Clinton sure isn't doing much! Lets keep up the presure to REALLY save the Headwaters, Let us each do our part!! E-mail the president at president@whitehouse.gov Ask for the full 60,000 and not to give another cent to Hulwitz and his MAXXAM multi-national, they have already stolen $1.6 billion from the taxpayers so far. This madness must stop! More info on the Headwaters can be found by searching for HEADWATERS in the Yahoo engine. I myself am still in (high???)school and hope to see you all in the TQ97 round!! Untill then,, One Planet, One People, One Love!!!

Hi fellas, I finally got on here. My husband and I have just spent the last hour perusing your site. Love it! We will be back, and are going to recommend it to others. How about addressing the basis for all our environmental problems --OVERPOPULATION OF THE HUMAN KIND!!!! Everything else is moot if humans don't stop being selfish about that issue. To me, the heroines of the next decade will be those who choose not to procreate. There are many wonderful individuals now modeling that type of responsibility and commitment to the planet, and I think we need to focus more on them, then on what corporations have a vested interest in --perpetuation of the reproduction of the human species. Afterall, they spend the money, don't they??? Ah, well, there I go again. EVERYONE, SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR DOGS AND CATS, and give the rest serious thought.

Wonderful page! Thanks for your creativity. As an environmental scientist, I frequently see and must understand both sides of the environmental debate. With more of the education and awareness, presented with the passion and intensity that you have shared on your web site, I'm certain that the eco-debates of the future will be waged at a higher level, with a greater appreciation and love for nature on all sides. Thank you.

You should have a non-Java Eco-Quiz. Maybe a text file that you can download, and E-Mail back. Other than that, really cool and very informative.

First, I'm extremely impressed by the professional quality of this web site. I'm equally impressed by the subject material. Environmental awareness is an important issue and one that more people need to be concerned about. I plan on adding a link to this page on my own web page and also telling all my friends and associates to visit here.

As volunteer for the county parks dept. I work in the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. Here, many people are working to save a peice of natural and cultural history. There are still openings for more people to help in such areas as animal surveys, patrols and public education, living history projects, and docent programs.

Due to excessive poaching of baby sea lion fur (you know, the fuzzy cute little baby harp seals) up north in the Arctic, Greenpeace (this was a coupla years ago) went up there and sprayed the baby lions with green spray paint so the fur would be ruined for coats and hats and junk. Since the babies grew new fur anyway, it was a good way to STOP THE BAD PEOPLE! Anyway, then they flew out to the middle of the ocean in their little ship thingie--the Rainbow Warrior, and stopped the bad harpooning whale people. You probably know all this stuff already. Well, back to the environmental stuff--uhhhh....been a long time since i did this--my friend Debbie, who lives in Torrance, she and her best friend started this environmental newsletter, KAAT, which she distributes free throughout the neighborhood to teachers and friends. It's really helpful in telling the latest news and it has vegetarian recipes and addresses you can write to, and (wow! the line finally ended!) movies reviews and stuff. It's really cool. Debbie is such a great person. She has 1 cat, 17 rats, 1 hamster, 1 bunny, 2 endangered desert tortoises, and I can't believe her mom lets her keep them all! She'd probably keep all the lost animals in the world if she could. She's made all the rest of us environmentalists, too. So, is this enough for you to read? Actually, I'm only writing this much because it's a Friday and I've got free time so I figure, why not? Can i write about science olympiad in here? Well, I won't just to be on the safe side. Tell me if any of you read any good books lately. Later.

me and my friends went around school in fifth grade being total environmentalists. Joined Greenpeace, National Wildlife Federation, etc. We even formed our own environmental cheering squad! Yippee. Wanna hear a cheer? (Save the earth! Do what's right! Let's go Greenpeace, fight, fight, fight.....) Sorry...we were only ten. It didn't work very well, though, so now we don't really do anything. We used to go around telling girls wearing lipstick that they were wearing whale oil (so we were immature). Why am I telling you this, anyway? Well, we did a bunch of other really crazy stuff--we did save some trees, though! It was a good experience, even though we made idiots of ourselves. How long does this line keep going, anyway? Well, I'll just keep typing then. Well, I guess that's all I have to say. Bye.

On the quiz, when you get a correct answer, Java Script uses a buzzard to indicate what you got right, can you change the sound, the sound now sounds more like an error. Perhaps you could use the Ta Da sound that comes with Microsoft. Good Work guys, this site is A+++++. I should know, I am the Ecology Club President at MCHS.
