In the late 19th Century, many Europeans migrated to Argentina. Since that time, political upheaval and discontent have been cyclical problems. Among the famous names in the cast of Argentinean politicians is Eva Peron, the first wife of the Juan Peron who served as president from 1946 to 1955 and again in 1973 until he died. Juan Peron was succeeded by his second wife, Isabella, who served until 1976.
