Picture of a Mosquito Most women who came to early Alaska came as wives and daughters, but there were a few who came to answer a call deep within themselves. Alaska stood as a vast wilderness waiting to be explored, tamed, and civilized. Some came to "civilize" the natives, some came to taste the wilds untouched by human hands, some came just to say they "did it". But all came to answer a secret yearning within themselves for adventure.
