The planet is known as the 'red planet' for its firey orange-red hue, which makes it a distinctive sight in the night sky. The Romans named it after Mars, the god of war. Mars has two satellites, both of which are of small sizes. Although the planet is much smaller in size compared to Earth, there are many similarities between the two. ther are seasons on Mars, and its day is a little over 24 hours long. There is also an atmosphere, although thin, and icecaps at the poles. Mars has less gravity compared to Earth due to its smaller size. There have been reports of seeing "canals" on the surface of the planet and some wave of darkening sweep over the planet in spring. Many scientists and astronomers suggest that Mars must be inhabited by intelligent creatures.
