The Rainforest
The Rainforest is home to many plants and animals. The scary part is we haven't discovered them all yet. At the rate of destruction we never will. Once the rainforest is destroyed, we will never have it back. One acre of land is cut every second. Want to help? Go to the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) home page and see what other people are doing to stop the destruction.

Tropical Rainforest

The rainforest is hot, humid, dark, and damp. It is home to many plants and animals. The Amazon rainforest is ten times larger than France. It rains nearly every day there, and the temperature is usually about 86°F.

Half of all the plant species grow in rainforests. Some trees can get up to 100 feet tall which creates a canopy; the canopy blocks sunlight from coming through. Below the canopy is an undiscovered world of life.
