Polar and Mountainous Regions
Animals in polar or in very high elevations have adaptations to stand the cold. Many animals in these cold areas will make dens or burrows which retain heat.
Polar Regions
Polar regions, also known as tundra, are very cold and dark areas of the earth. The ground is frozen and there is little light. Trees are almost non-existant. There is grass, small shrubs, and low flowering herbs.

Mountainous Regions
The temperature in higher elevations is colder than surrounding areas at lower altitudes. Higher mountains can be ice capped year-round even if the mountain is not very far from the equator.
