Carbon Jargon:

• anaerobic -- without oxygen
• biogas -- gas produced by the anaerobic decomposition of organic matter
• decomposition -- the break-down of dead organisms and the release of the nutrients incorporated in their bodies back into the environment
• depolymerization -- breaking down a polymer, or complex structure (protein), into its monomers, or single parts (amino acids)
• enzyme -- protein which accelerates chemical reactions in the cell
