Carbon Jargon
- corneal reflex -- reaction of the eye to changes in light as evidenced by a change in
the size of the pupil
- cyanosis -- bluish discoloration resulting from a lack of oxygen in the blood; can be
observed most clearly in the mucus membranes, lips, and fingernails
- metabolism -- the physical and chemical processes occurring within a living cell or
organism that are necessary for the maintenance of life
- postmortem -- after death
- respiration -- metabolic processes within an organism that involve the consumption of
oxygen and the liberation of carbon dioxide and water
