• depolymerization -- breaking down a polysaccharide (starch) into its smaller parts, monosaccharides (glucans)
• enzyme -- protein which accelerates chemical reactions in the cell
• glucans -- glucose molecules
• glycosidic bond -- covalent bond formed by dehydration synthesis which holds together the glucose molecules in a polysaccharide
