Carbon Jargon:
- amylopectin -- one of the two major components of starch; highly branched
chains of glucose molecules; composed of between 10,000 and 100,000 glucose molecules
- amylose -- one of the two major components of starch; essentially
unbranched chains of glucose molecules (NOTE: Do not confuse amylose with the
enzyme amylase used in digestion)
- glucans -- glucose molecules
- glycosidic bond -- covalent bond formed by dehydration synthesis which holds
together the glucose molecules in a polysaccharide
