Creation
The Earth was created along
with all the other planets in our Solar System, approximately 4.5
billion years ago. The Solar System was created when pods of
swirling gases and dust formed together and grew by attracting nearby
particles of matter. These collections of dust and metal developed
into the planets that now travel around our Sun.
What made Earth able to sustain life for millions
of years? How many other planets can or did sustain life in our
universe?
Scientists believe the Earth began as a waterless mass of rock.
Heating of the Earth's interior caused chemicals to rise to the surface
and form water and the gases of the atmosphere.
The Earth changes continuously. Some changes take millions of
years and others happen in minutes.
