Welcome to our page on landmines.  Landmines are small, buried explosives triggered to explode and maim people and machinery.  They are cheap and dirty weapons, capable of crudely defending stretches of land.  Unfortunately, when a war is over, the landmine threat is not.  There is no easy method of landmine removal, and with millions buried around the world, in paddocks and pasture, under roads and beside wells, the threat of injury and death to the civilian population is such that every 15 minutes, there is another victim.  The problem is, indeed, a giant one.
