Objectives
A statement of how the proposed Entry will meet the ThinkQuest objectives, the anticipated educational benefits of the project, and the age range of the students for whose use the Entry is intended.
The objective of our proposed entry is to have students from middle to high school age utilize this website as an authentic source within the schools, classrooms, and communities. Most importantly we feel that our topic has an appealing nature which is important in attracting not only a large audience, but the correct audience. The outcome will be an original product with a practical application. It may be used in the classroom as a teaching tool, or as an information and communications device not only throughout the various communities but the entire internet community.
The project is innovative because of its interdisciplinary nature and its ability to provide the visitor an opportunity to interact and participate. The project may be fully integrated into any middle or high school curriculum. The students will learn not only historical material that faced the nation and the lives of the ordinary people of the time, they'll also enrich their understanding of the human experience of the sixties decade. On a personal level this project will prepare us for the realities of the modern workplace, which requires the ability to use applications of technology and to integrate information from many sources; to employ critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills and to demonstrate self management skills.
The entire website will also be made available in Spanish to develop
relationships that dissolve the barriers of language, distance and age.
A feature of this nature will emphasize the projects ability to productively
use the strengths of the internet and guarantees the wide appeal beyond
the teams geographic location.
