Identification: The Northern Leopard Frog is a slender frog measuring 2-5 inches. It can be either green or brown in color with light colored continuous ridges and light rimmed dark spots between these ridges in two or three rows. Its voice is a low, guttural snore that lasts about three seconds and followed by several short clucking notes. When this frog is pursued, it escapes with zigzag leaps towards water.
Location: This frog is found throughout most of northern North America except on the West coast. Its distribution is seemingly centered along the US/Canada border.
Habitat: Leopard frogs easily adapt to new surroundings. They are found from deserts to mountain meadows, from freshwater areas with abundant vegetation to marshes and moist fields.
