Getting it all together for all to see!

Since not everyone at school got the chance to see our presentation we decided to show them the big picture of our efforts.  So, we used our school's bulletin board to present to everyone who comes to school a summary of the project, our findings and how we are geting our school and the community together to help keep our river, and the environment, clean for all of us!

That is why we decided to call our final page  "The end is only the beggining", because all this effort can not stop here.  We want everyone to get involved and to take our efforts and the River Watchers a step further and make it a continuous project that hopefully will keep growing every year a little more.

Final thoughts as River Watchers.

Finally we finished our project. It was good times, hard times and a lot of work. Here you will be able to read our individual though about our experiences as River Watchers.

  • This was one extraordinary experience that I wish many other people could have. I liked helping the community, I liked cleaning the river, I loved helping to make a better and cleaner environment. I believe this will be a great way to make people aware from the consequences of their actions and a great way for all of us to learn more about the needs of the planet, the problems that it haves and what can we do to make a good and positive change about it. I liked working with ThinkQuest and I hope to do it again sometime.

  • For me it was a great experience. I never did such a project on my other school years and this one was amazing. I got the chance to actually do something good for the environment, the community and myself. Using ThinkQuest helped me realized that we teenagers can do a lot for our world and that with the right guidance we ALL can make a change for good.

  • I liked the project because we help our community and our school to solve a problem with Devin, Eliezer and Nilmarie. What I liked most was the cleanliness of the river, as we share with our best friends and we were surprised to find things you never see in a river.

Final thoughts as the River Watcher Squad.

To all the students that helped us during this project. Let us know how was your experience.

  • This was a really fun and interesting experience. I really like the part that we had to go and clean the river that passes by our school, because I found a lot of odd things that I didn't knew that they were there. Also because I learned that a lot of people think that the reason that why the river is contaminated is because of the students, and although that is parcially true is not fully true because there was a lot of trash that the students coudn't have thrown to the river.
    Apr. 25, 2011

  • It was awesome.Because we had to clean the river and by picking up all the trash we realized how bad is the sitiation if we contaminate a river. And we are trying to help this situation by making trash cans with messages and handing flyers with information about contamination and what we had to do. And just knowing that we are helping the envirement it makes it fun and interesting.

  • I think this project was a wonderful experience, not just because we told the world about the importance of keeping our rivers clean, but that we actually got into the action. This way we are helping conserve the environment AND setting an example for people all around the world.

Our future plans!

Well, this whole project is only the first step of things we expect to happen on our community. It will involve a change on attitudes and actions so we must keep working even after the project ends.  So all of us as River Watchers have a few goal we will like to achieve. Here we share our future plans for the River Watchers so help us make these a reality.

Future plans list for The River Watchers

  • Make our government officials part of our efforts.

We want to write a pledge for our city major so he will sign it and make a commitment with the River Watchers to help us on all our efforts to make our rivers and watersheds pollution free.

  • Place River Watcher banners on our rivers bridges.

We want to design banners to be placed on areas close to the rivers so people could read that the River Watchers exist and that we care for our environment and that they, as part of our city, should care too.

  • Make the River Watchers an official club.

We want our school to adopt the River Watchers as part of our school's environmental club. We don't have an official club for this so we can become the founding members and have our own T shirt (we already have the logo made by Veronica)or even a flag. That would be cool! That way our efforts will keep going year after year.

  • Do a river cleanup a monthly activity.

As part of the River Watchers different groups from school can participate on a clean up, so they an see and experience by themselves what we all can accomplish as a group.

  • Science Fair!!

We used many of the steps of the Scientific Method to do all this project, so we could gather all our findings into a Science Fair project for more people to see.

  • Do our best to make a change!

We think there is not much explaining to do on this one! :-) People say youth is the future, but you know what? They are wrong, because we are her now and we all are not just the future but mostly our present! PEACE!!!! ٩(-̮̮̃•̃)۶
