Wow! Ants can plan so effectively.........
Ants Planning Better Than Humans!!!!!!!!!
We all must have heard the story 'The Ant and the Grasshopper' in which a small ant plans effectively for the coming up winter. In the autumn the grasshopper didn't plan for the winter ahead and made fun of the ant who was working day and night to get food for the winter.
Ant hills hills have exellent ventilation and waste systems which have lots of planning done to make them.As we all know that ants grow fungus on the leaves of plants, that too requires a great deal of planning.Ants are the only animals beside humans which farm food and as humans plan alot to farm their crops ants do planning to farm too.
Ant's hibernation
You can usually see us ants in various places from spring to autumn, but we go into hibernation in the winter. Many of us are seen to come from, and go into, the entrances of their nests in spring to summer but these entrances are closed in winter and no ants are seen to come from there.
Where do we pass the winter?
In winter our body temperature changes in response to the atmospheric temperature. In winter, our body temperature falls greatly and our movements grow sluggish. That is why we hibernate restlessly in warmer places, such as the soil or under the bark of trees.
Most species of ants eat a large amount of food in autumn to put on fat, thereby allowing them to go without food through the winter.
The entrance to the ant nest nests is closed as a natural result of the slowdown and cessation of ant traffic. Furthermore, soil or sand has accumulated around the entrance. When spring comes and it gets warmer, we become active and open up the entrance of our nest to venture outside.
Hard working ants of Anteland
As you all know that we ants plan effectively for saving our food for winter, we do a whole lot of hard work for this.During this we face many problems.Sometimes the grasshoppers eat our saved food ,or sometimes we hard working ants die due to humans carelessness. Then we do not have much food to eat the whole winter. Now, you should just pay attention and think that you should learn from us. Even when we face obstacles in our lives we do not loose hope ,but keep on trying. We make these problems stepping stones for us ,and everytime gain more courage and hope.
Marching in Processions
You must have seen ants marching in procession, but you would never have known why. Now, who could tell you better about this than ants themselves, so you must pay attention if you want to know about this hidden wonder of the ants.
First, you will need to know why ants march in procession. Before we say anything you must get this out of your head (if it is inside) that we don’t march in procession for the sports day walk past, or for a special national event like you humans do, but for the search of a new nesting site, or mostly to carry food.
Not all of the ants march in procession, but only those species of ants do so who have a habit to haul food to the colony in a marching procession. The whole procession starts when the worker ant finds food. When it finds food, it leaves a trail of odor (smell), as it goes back to the nest. The other workers follow this trail in a marching procession, and then (together) they carry the food to their nest. You humans are now going to know about 'How an Ant Leaves the Odorous Trail', and how are you going to know? Well, isn't it obvious that we are going to tell you? Hmmm.... so where were we? Oh Yes! The odorous trail...right. So the ant drops that odorous
substance from an area at the end of its abdomen which is called its glands. That is pretty much all you need to know about how we march in procession.
