Algae as Alternative Material

Finally scientist have discovered an alternative raw material for paper that is of the Red Algae (Gelidium amansii).  In the process was almost no contact with chemicals, only takes a neutral chemicals. So incredible.

Availability of  this raw materials (Red Algae) are also relatively safe. It requires ten years to grow trees, while the Red Algae only need time in months. And that can be cultivated easily in a calm sea waters. Indonesia and many countries have  a lot of this region.

Beside the availability of raw material,  we also need to prepare a few things. First, the government must dare to take concern to the production of paper have to switch from wood to red algae. And the govement can support the production and development of the Red Alga’s  research. Beside, the paper manufacturers have knowingly and willing to move using the red algae as the feedstock. So, they can develop this project with their fully heart. And the coastal community (fishermen) to develop this Red Algae cultivation, because it obviously would make economic improvement. And the universities can take a role in the development this research.

Excess Paper from Gelidium sp.

Excess paper from the red algae is the production process which does not contain a lot of chemicals . Chemicals are only used to whiten paper that is chlorine . In Indonesia, the red algae was first recognized in Bali , and is currently being developed intensively in Lombok . Red algae can produce rapidly at around 7-13 % can even grow up to 20 % /day . Compared with wood that require decades to grow .

Red Algae Cultivation can be done by anyone because it is easily developed . Algae is like calm waters . Such waters are widely available in coastal areas of Indonesia. A promising potential for Indonesia .

A new opportunity for the fishermen and coastal communities . An opportunity for the forest to grow back . Is this country will only remain a spectator only ?

One of which is red algae Gelidium amansii

Gelidium amansii can be used as alternative raw material for papermaking . These algae grow in Indonesia's ocean . The resulting white paper is clean and smooth like expensive quality paper that is used by Time magazine.

Excess paper from the red algae is the production process which does not contain a lot of chemicals , only chemicals needed are neutral chlorine . As well as using a chlorine bleaching process . Availability of raw materials of red algae are also relatively safe . This red algae growth only takes a matter of months . And that can be cultivated easily in a calm sea waters . Indonesia has many ini.Di Indonesian region , this red alga was first discovered in Bali , and is currently being developed intensively in Lombok . Process Paper From Algae

Finally, a study found a solution . Ketras not only be prepared from wood but can be treated with algae which are found and easily cultivated from red algae . Red algae , namely Gelidium amansii and lucia Pterocladia are alternative materials that can be used to save the forest . The resulting white paper is clean and smooth like expensive paper quality used in the magazine .

Excess red algae neutralization processing into a simple and does not cause waste . For this process into pulp using chemicals such as chlorine and chemicals that is easy neutral peroxide as bleach and oven simple extraction of raw materials destroyed .

The process of making paper from seaweed , is no different than making paper from wood . There are five main processes , namely raw material preparation , cooking seaweed , seaweed extract , whitening and printing .

This makes operating the paper mill made from raw wood almost
always in conflict with environmental interests . While processing
production of paper from seaweed , processed with almost no chemicals other than
bleaching with chlorine . And most importantly , almost no waste
out , so no impact on health .

A new opportunity to improve the standard of living and the Fisherman
coastal communities and is also an opportunity to reduce deforestation
should be made of paper .
