The Deprived Population in France

Over the last few years, a severe problem has developed for France. Between 3 and 12 million people are in a state of severe nutritional need. The French Federation estimates that 500,000 people do not have enough to eat.
The aid is certainly plentiful. 700 millions of francs were allocated to food aid in 1993 in the form of prepared rations or coupons. Obviously, only low-income families received this aid.
The foods that are consumed by the poor are also the least nutritious. According to the Insitut National, poor folks spend more of their budget on total food, but less on vegetables, meat, milks, and fruits. This would mean that the poverty-stricken buy mostly junk type foods which have higher caloric intake with less actual nutrients.
Something needs to be done about this...
