Interesting Factoids:
The damsel fly is common in the spring and summer months. Eggs are laid in the
water and develop into a larva stage that remains in the water until ready to emerge
as the adult. The larva are carnivorous and as they mature they become excellent
swimmers. Damsel fly larvae are sensitive to low dissolved oxygen levels and therefore
can act as an indicator of water quality. The picture above is of a damsel fly larvae
caught in October at creek site
