Interesting Factoids:
Crawdads are commonly found in the creek. They also are somewhat sensitive
to poor water quality and aid in determining if changes in water chemistry are occuring
in the creek. Crawdads are collected and bred in classroom tanks. The offspring produced
are released back into the creek. Developing some method of tagging the offspring
so that growth rates and distribution within the creek can be studied is currently
being explored. Crawdads are found throughout the creek study site. The picture on
the left is of adults in our breeding tank and the one on the right is of a baby.
We photographed the baby in a petri dish using the flex cam. |
