Flow Rate
Rate of flow can have a tremendous impact on many biotic and abiotic factors in the creek. Variations in flow rate will ultimately effect the distribution of creek species. Flow rate is measured by dropping a styrofoam ball into the creek water and measuring the length of time taken to travel 1-5 meters. The measurement is then converted to centimeters/second.
