Thank you for your interest in Georgetown. As you will see Georgetown is a very unique university. It is located in the heart of Washington DC our nation's capital. This location provides many opportunities to work for the public and private sectors. In addition, there are many opportunities to volunteer in the community, too. Georgetown's education is international. We have students that come from all over the world. There are no fraternities or sororities, however they are not needed here. There are many minority groups on campus. Basketball is very popular as well as the performing arts. So, as you can see, Georgetown is not your typical school. If you any questions please do not hesitiate to call 02.687.3600
Q. What is campus life like at Georgetown?
A. The best thing, because there's not really a short answer to that question, is to schedule a campus visit, so that you can find out that answer for yourself. We have information sessions which are followed by group tours. I probably could be on the phone with you for a hour trying to properly address that!
Q. What sets Georgetown apart from the rest of the pack?
A. Georgetown is very unique in it's location, not many schools have the opportunies that Georgetown can offer, because of its location. The answer to that question is really a student's choice. You as a student looking at Georgetown and other schools will need to make that determination.
Q. What is your policy on affirmative action for non-Asian minorities?
A. Diversity is certainly important to us, but it's really not a factor in the admissions process.
Q. So do you have any quotas or caps?
A. No.
Q. There is a lot of other criteria that it takes to get into a good college like Georgetown. If I gave you some of that criteria, do you think you could put it in order from most to least important?
A. Sure.
Q. SAT/scores, GPA/class rank, difficulty level of classes taken, participation in sports, and extracurriculars/leadership activities . . . ?
A. SAT scores, GPA/class rank, difficulty of courses taken, and extracurriculars and leadership are all very important. Participation in sports is important, but not as important as the other things.
Q. Out of those important things, is there anything that is more important than the other?
A. There is nothing that is more important out of all those that is first in line. It is a combination of all those things.
