Should the chess teacher win the game against her student or allow
her student to defeat her brilliantly?
If the student beats the teacher the student gains confidence but
perhaps loses some respect and awe for the teacher. However if
the teacher severely crushes the student then the student gets
discouraged.
Certainly it is important for the chess student to learn to lose
with grace, but at what age, or at what skill level does the
chess student decide not to quit chess when he loses, and learn
to treasure the loss as a chance to improve?
