I disagree with your contention that football is a
violent game. I hold that the key to a football game
is the strategy. Everyone has an equal number of
chess pieces in a football game, but the key is
that you train them. Then the chess pieces move how
you want them to and move in complete harmony. There
are certainly some violent aspects in football, but it
is insignificant because football players were helmets
and padding to hide themselves. I would also say that
wrestling is an intense strategy game where you must,
as in chess, provoke weaknesses and attack. People can
feel really good about a wrestling match where they take
their opponent down, even if they lose.
Chess on the other hand is intensely violent. No one
has any padding, and the loser of a game no matter how
well played, always feels a great helplessness and
powerlessness. Certainly chess involves wit, strategy,
tactics, but it is the most violent of them all where the
entire goal of the game is to dismember the king. If you
are too peaceful, you will lose sight of this goal.
