I personally dont think that being innately peaceful has much to do with playing chess and winning. It's true, when i play, i don't really hate my opponents, but i very much wish to destroy them on the battle field. I dont really think chess is so violent of a game either. Football, wrestling is violent which is probably why you dont see too many women doing that. But chess is a battle of the wits where both players try to outsmart their opponent. Since both men and women are equally capable of that, there should be no reason why everyone shouldn't play chess
