I am up front with my students what my rating is and that I am still learning the game. I play them straight up till the first time they beat me, then I know they are at a level where I can try things against them. If you have a good sense of humor about it, it helps a lot. I dream of the day that I can find a kid that beats me every time so that I will have to improve...
