I am the president of Boston University Chess Club. Setting up a club is not as difficult as it may seem. All you need are a few initial members, a few chess sets, a time and a place. Many chess clubs I know of have started in local coffee shops. It brings business to the coffee shop, so most managers will allow it. To make money for the club, you can direct chess tournaments and charge a small entry fee and offer some prizes as incentive. Hope this helps
