Dvoretsky is the most amazing teacher of all time. As a master player it became increasingly harder to improve my play. Every time I sat down and went through a Dvoretsky book "Secrets of Chess Tactics" for example, I felt myself suddenly understanding everything.

This past summer I heard he was doing a 2-week long summer camp with his side-kick Yusupov. I had to go to see him in person. So I flew cross-country to New York and he convinced me again of his sheer brilliance. One topic he talked about that struck me in particular was when to trade pieces. How do you know when to trade pieces? Should weak players try and exchange pieces with their stronger opponents to get into more "drawish" opponents? Dvoretsky taught me these secrets.

Although I've given up serious chess for the past 3 1/2 college years, Dvoretsky is a teacher who leaves me hungering for more, wanting to play, wanting to study...
