problem 2 - mate in 2, not 3

Am I missing something in problem 2? If white plays
Q-g7, isn't mate with any of the moves Q-f8, Q-g8
or q-h8 unstopable on the next move? All of the other
pieces on the board are irrelevent to the position
except the white bishop and the pawn at d7. This is a
variation on a theme Nimzovich reffered to as "seventh
row absolute", meaning that if a queen or rook can
establish a wall at the seventh row (or any other
perimiter) trapping the king behind it, other pieces
can then provide attack, leaving the king no escape.
