Yet another thing that beginning
players must select is their first mouthpiece. Manufacturers
in present times have made this job quite a bit easier because
almost every beginner's horn comes equipped with a mouthpiece.
The size of this mouthpiece is usually the equivalent to a
Bach 7C. If you are buying a used horn however, it may not
come with a 7C, and in that case it would be in your best
interests to go and buy a size 7C mouthpiece to begin playing
with. As far as what company should be used, Vincent Bach is
what most beginners have and they are reliable in their
sizes. As you get better and progress over the years, you
will start to change mouthpieces, but we'll talk about that
more in depth later.
